Students at Whispering Meadows Elementary (WMES) are celebrating “Random Acts of Kindness” this week and are inviting the community to help them share kindness throughout Fort Wayne. More than 400 rocks have been handpainted by WMES students with an inspirational message or kind word along with #WMESBeKind hashtag. On Thursday, February 15 at 12:45 p.m., the rocks will be placed outside the school with an open invitation for the community to visit WMES and take rocks from the pile and place them in locations throughout Fort Wayne.
Kathryn Lopez, School Counselor, Whispering Meadows Elementary says, “We want WMES kindess to be shared by the community. On Thursday, we will place these rocks outside our school around our flag pole. We invite families, kids and the community to take from our pile and place the rocks where they think they need to be found. Maybe it’s outside a doctor’s office, the hospital or at a park; someplace where someone who finds it sees that they are cared about.”
Finders of the WMES rocks are asked to take a picture share where the rock was found in a tweet @WMES_ELEM with the hashtag #WMESBeKind.
“It’s a great way for our students and our community to see how far a simple act of kindness travels,” Lopez added.
